2020 Changes and Enhancements

Except as noted, all the changes listed below are effective Jan. 1, 2020.

No Cost Increases

Keeping healthcare costs affordable is important to everyone. And we love it when we can share good news! There will be no increases to your cost for medical, dental, or vision coverage next year. In fact, your premiums have increased only once in the past 5 years. We’re pleased that NVIDIA benefits continue to be both highly competitive and an exceptional value for our employees.

And if you’re in the mood for a little more good news: premium rates for supplemental employee and spouse life insurance will decrease by 5 percent.

Kaiser Plan Changes

IVF Enhancement
We heard your feedback! Both the Kaiser HMO and Kaiser HSA medical options will cover up to three cycles of in vitro fertilization (IVF) procedures. (Both options currently cover one cycle.) Coverage amounts will remain the same: $20 copay under the Kaiser HMO, and 50 percent (after deductible) under the Kaiser HSA.

Small Change to Kaiser HSA Deductible
To comply with IRS rules the Kaiser HSA family deductible will change slightly. While the family maximum deductible will remain $3,000, the deductible for any single family member will increase to $2,800 (from $2,700).

Save More in the Health Savings Account (HSA)

If you enroll in an NVIDIA HSA, NVIDIA HSA Plus, or Kaiser HSA medical plan, NVIDIA contributes to your account, and you can, too.

Each year the IRS sets annual contribution limits for HSAs. For 2020, the total (NVIDIA’s + your) maximum contribution amount is increasing to:

  • $3,550 (up from $3,500 in 2019) if you cover only yourself
  • $7,100 (up from $7,000 in 2019) if you cover yourself and one or more eligible dependents

Add $1,000 to the above limits if you’ll be age 55 or older in 2020.

The amount of NVIDIA’s contribution depends on the plan you choose and how many people you cover.

Remember: Every dollar you contribute to your HSA is a dollar you don’t pay federal income tax on.

More Access to Behavioral Health Support

Expanded Coverage for Out-of-Network Care

We heard you. Finding great behavioral health providers can be a challenge. And because this is important to you, it’s important to us. So we’re making changes to give all employees and their families greater access to quality, affordable providers. Starting in 2020, NVIDIA will cover behavioral health office visits outside the Cigna network the same as in-network visits using reasonable and customary rates. After you meet your out-of-network deductible, you pay 10 percent of reasonable and customary costs.

Keep in mind, Cigna network providers charge negotiated rates for NVIDIA employees enrolled in a Cigna plan, which are generally lower than those charged by out-of-network providers.
