SAVING ON PRESCRIPTIONS

By spending just a few dollars less on your regular prescriptions, you can enjoy considerable savings in the long run. Here are some tips for getting the greatest value on your prescriptions.

Mail Order
Retail

By using a mail order pharmacy service, you can get larger quantities of your prescriptions, often at the same price you’d pay for a smaller quantity at your traditional pharmacy.

In-network
Out-of-network

You’ll pay lower prices for your prescriptions if you opt for an in-network pharmacy instead of a pharmacy that’s out of your plan’s network.

Generic
Brand Name

Most commonly used prescription drugs are available in less-expensive generic forms. If a generic form isn’t available, ask the pharmacist if there’s an equivalent drug that has a generic form.

How much you pay for prescriptions depends on which plan you’re enrolled in. View a side-by-side comparison of prescription drug benefits [PDF] for each medical plan and also review the CVS site. Or find your plan below to see what you'll be paying for your prescriptions—and how large of a supply you'll get.

Specialty Medications

If you have a complex or chronic condition (such as rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis or psoriasis), CVS Specialty® provides access to the medications you need, along with personalized support to help you stay on track with your therapy.

Certain medications, including specialty medications, need approval in advance (a process known as “prior authorization”). To see a list of medications that are considered specialty, refer to the CVS Caremark Advanced Control Specialty Formulary. Also see Medications Requiring Prior Authorization (Cigna HSA and PPO plans).

With CVS Specialty you have a dedicated Care Team led by a pharmacist and nurse who are specialists in your condition. They can help with everything from getting started and managing side effects to injection training or finding financial assistance. If you are taking a specialty medication, and need to get started with CVS Specialty, visit CVSspecialty.com or call 1-800-237-2767.

If you use a third-party copay assistance program, commonly known as a “manufacturer copay card” when you fill your prescription through CVS Specialty any savings or rebates you receive from the drug manufacturer will not count toward your annual deductible or out-of-pocket maximum. Only what you pay out-of-pocket will apply.

Make sure your doctor is aware that you’re enrolled in the CVS Caremark plan and to log in to Caremark.com to check coverage and copay information for your specific medicine.
